 Hi Anglofebers,

Lately we have been receiving enquiries about the message board and how to use all the functionalities it offers.  Below is a clear and simple guideline that will hopefully enable you to enjoy a complete experience on our boards.

Q:  How do I register?

A:  The process of registering is as follows.  On the main anglofeb.com homepage you will see a series of links at the top of the page towards the right, namely ‘Home’, ‘Register’, ‘Refer a Friend’, ‘Contact Us’, ‘About Us’ - in that order.  Click on ‘Register’.

From there registration is pretty straightforward.  Fill in the required information with the input boxes provided.  Once completed click on the, ‘Send Registration’ button at the bottom.

Q: What happens after I register?

A:  Our servers will send you a confirmation e-mail to the address you provided upon registration.  Once you receive that e-mail, click on the activation link provided.  After that you should be set to post on our message boards!

Q:  How do I log-in?

A.  On the far top right corner of the main anglofeb homepage, you will see a “Sign In” box.  Enter in the Username and Password you created during registration and then click on the ‘Login’ button underneath

Q:  How do I access the Message Boards?

A:  Throughout the anglofeb.com website, you will see a side menu on the left side of the page.  You will see: HOME, NEWS & FEATURES, ANGLOFEB COMMUNITY, ANGLOFEB-ON-AIR, in that order.

Below the heading of ‘ANGLOFEB COMMUNITY’ there is a link that is titled “Message Board”, click on that and you will access the message boards.

Q:  How do I post a message?

A:  Click on any discussion you desire.  For the sake of guiding you, let’s choose the Chit Chat Forum.

1.    Click on Chit Chat, which is listed in the ‘General Discussion’ category in blue.

2.    Choose a topic you would like to participate in.  For example, ‘Introductions Thread’ at the top.  Click on the ‘Introductions Thread’ link.

3.    After you have clicked on ‘Introductions Thread’ link you will see numerous messages posted by other anglofeb members (a.k.a anglofebers).  You have a choice.  You can either browse through the thread, see what others have written, or you may decide to post a message straight away. To post a reply you can either click on the green box titled ‘Reply Topic’ at the top of the page or at the bottom, either way it doesn’t matter.

Once you click ‘Reply Topic’ you will be redirected to page with a big text box located centrally with numerous formatting options above it.  Inside that text box write your desired response.  When you have finished click the ‘Submit’ button which is located below the text box.

•    As a side note.  On the page where you are entering in your text, you will notice other options such as Preview and Cancel.  Both can be useful to alter any errors.

•    Below the ‘Submit’, ‘Preview’, and ‘Cancel’ buttons, you will notice the posts made by other members titled ‘Topic History’.  You can use that as a reference if you find that you have lost your trail of thought.

Q:  How do I enter in the faces (Emoticons) into the post?

A. While you are typing up a post and you feel that you have to enter in an Emoticon to highlight your opinion, simply click on the according Emotion, located on the left of the page. Click on the desired face, and it will automatically be entered into your post.

Q:  I want to reply to a person specifically regarding the message they have posted, how do I do that?

A:  Below every members message you will see the following buttons on the bottom right of the post.  Quick Reply, Reply, and Quote, in that order.  In order to reply to a specific persons post, click on the “Quote” button.  Once you have done that you will be redirected to a page.

That page that you are redirected to is the same as the page that you saw when you clicked “Post Reply”.  The only difference is, the post in which you are replying to has been written in the text box for your convenience.  To write down your opinion on somebody’s post, just click your mouse below the [/quote] tag, so that your flashing text cursor appears at the end of the provided text.

From there, press enter to give the quoted text a space to provide ease of reading for our members, and write down your opinion.

Q:  I made a mistake in my post, how do I fix this?

A:  Right below your post towards the right side, you will see the standard “Quick Reply”, “Reply”, and “Quote” buttons. However, only under your posts, you will have a red box entitled “Edit”.

Click on “Edit”, and you will be directed to the text entry page that  you have seen before. Make the necessary corrections. Below the text box you may notice an additional text input box titled “Reason for Editing”. Entering in something like “Spelling Mistake” is sufficient enough, you do not need to go into grave detail on why you edited your post.

After that is done, click on submit.

Q:  I want to insert an image into my post, how do I do this?

A:  There are two ways to enter in an Image into your post. These will be all done on the page where you enter in your text.

Method 1.

This method will allow you to post an image through the grey “img” button provided above and left of the text input. This is basically a direct internet link to an image that you have found on the internet that you would like to post onto the message boards.

To do this:

1.    Click on the grey “img” box.
2.    You will notice that it will automatically input the script: [img size=150][/img], into your text input.
3.    Click your mouse cursor in between the brackets, so that your flashing text cursor is in between the [img size=150] and the [/img]
    i.e: [img size=150] * here * [/img]
4. Paste in the URL of your image.

Click on Submit at the bottom and your post will include your picture

Method 2.

At the bottom of your screen you will see the option “Select Image file to Attach”. This option allows you to upload a picture file directly from your computer.

To do this:

1.    Click on “Choose File”
2.    Browse your computer hard drive to find the location of your picture file.
3.    Select it.

Click on Submit at the bottom and your post will include your picture

Q:  How do I insert YouTube videos into my post?

A:  Go to your reply screen where you see the input text box. The code for YouTube is as follows:

(youtube)(/youtube) (Replace the rounded brackets "()" with the "{}" more curly ones)

In between the (youtube) and the (/youtube), you have to enter in the YouTube specific code, rather than the URL.

Example:

YouTube Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7uMbh2PskY
Now, copy the code AFTER the “v=” sign, so that it looks like this:

(youtube)g7wMbh2PskY(/youtube)" (Replace the rounded brackets "()" with the "{}" more curly ones)

Click on submit at the bottom, and you will see your youtube video on the post.

Q:  How do I enhance My Profile.  I want to put my picture on here and publish more information about myself.

A:  On the far left, as discussed before, you see the different components of our website. Below ANGLOFEB COMMUNITY you will see “My Profile”, click on it.

You will be redirected to the page that is unique to your profile and give you the options to edit it and enhance it more. This is your personal space that will be published to the rest of the anglofeb community.

    Updating Information:

In order to update information about yourself, click on the grey “Edit” tab at the top, which is between “Community” and “Connections”. From there, a drop down menu will pop up. Click on “Update your profile” in order to add in more information about yourself.

When you are satisfied with everything, click “Update”

Updating/Uploading a picture onto your profile:

Follow the same steps as above, click on the grey “Edit” tap at the top, and then click on “Update your Image”

Here you will have a selection of pre-loaded images from the image gallery. Or you may opt to use your own picture, in which case, click on “Choose File”. Once  you do that, browse to the file on your computer and select it. Click on upload, and within a few seconds you will have a new image on your profile.

Q:  What is the “Connections” tab in the profile page about?

A:  Connections is a feature that is unique to the anglofeb community. It is somewhat of a similar format of “Facebook” or “mySpace” allowing our users to have friends, a photo album and a message wall. This particular option allows you to build a closer friendship network within the anglofeb community. You may find someone that is a really good poster or someone you think would be interesting to be friends with, in any case, the Connections tab allows you to categorize that specific member as a “Anglofeber Connection” within the anglofeb network.

In order to do this:

Click on the “Member List” function on the left side menu of the website.

Search for the member you would like to add as your friend. Once you have found that person, click on their name to be redirected to their Profile Page.

Once you are on their profile page, you will see the grey boxes at the top again labelled, Community, View, Messages, Connections, and Moderation, in that order.

Mouse over the Connections button and click on “request connection”
