Rumors have just come in that Swiss born - Turkish striker Eren Derdiyok is set to sign with the club in the next few days.
From what we understand, the eligability for the player to play under a Turkish status is delaying the final touches for the completion of the transfer - quite routine for foreign based Turks. Otherwise the deal is done, signed, and sealed as far as Fenerbahce are concerned.
Starting his career with the Swiss side, BSC Old Boys, Eren Derdiyok is a powerful striker who immediately showed his goal scoring prowness by scoring 10 goals in 18 games in his first season.
A season later, the 20-year-old was snatched up by FC Basel, only used as a mere substitute during the 2006/07 campaign. The following season, he was given more first team opportunities and scored his first ever hat trick against FC Thun.
Eren was integral during his time with the Swiss youth sides, scoring 7 goals in 7 games with the U-19's, and 7 goals in 5 games for the U-21s. He was called up to the Senior team in a friendly against England at the young age of 19, scoring a goal with his first shot of the game.
