Samuel Eto’o has admitted to receiving an offer from Fenerbahce which he will evaluate upon returning to Barcelona.
Eto’o is currently in the Uzbekistan capital of Tashkent where he is a guest of Uzbek football champions Kuruvchi. Speaking at a specially arranged press conference the Cameroon captain said, “I was on holiday until yesterday and arrived at Tashkent today. I am happy to be here and thank everyone at Kuruvchi for being so welcoming. From what I have seen, this club has big plans and are destined for future success.”
When asked about his own transfer status the 27-year-old replied, “I have received several offers which I will be evaluating when I return to Barcelona at the weekend.” One Turkish journalist present then specifically asked if Fenerbahce were among the clubs hoping to sign the striker, “Yes, I have received an offer from Fenerbahce as well which I will also evaluate.”
The press conference resembled an unveiling of a new transfer as Eto’o was wearing a white Kuruvchi number 9 jersey with his name above it. Earlier this week the Uzbek club claimed to have signed the Barca forward on their official website which was dismissed by the Catalan giants.
While the cynics will argue this to be a PR stunt, the fact remains that Kuruvchi have become a popular name following the visit of Samuel Eto'o.
