ARAGONES WANTS MADRID STAR

Turkish newspaper Fotomac today report on an ‘exclusive’ naming players they claim are on Luis Argones’ transfer list.

Most of the names they provide have been covered off on Anglofeb over the past couple of months apart from an Argentina star who has played last 6 out of 7 seasons in La Liga.

Avid followers of Spanish football probably did not have too much trouble guessing who the player might be, but for those of you needing clarification, the man in question is Javier Saviola.

Saviola joined Barcelona from River Plate at just 19 years of age having played 3 seasons for the Argentine giants. The striker nicknamed El Conejito (The Little Rabbit) was a contracted Barca player for 6 years but spent the last two on loan at Monaco and Sevilla.

The Argentina striker joined Real Madrid on a Bosman free transfer last summer but now appears to be surplus to requirements as The Madridistas have transfer listed him at €5million Euros (£4m pounds, $8m USD).

Fotomac maintain Saviola has been identified as a target of Aragones with Mateja Kezman to make way for his arrival. The same source also reports that Claudio Maldonado will also leave with one of Xabi Alonso, Marcos Senna or Maniche replacing the Chilean.

Incidentally, both Kezman and Maldonado did not make the starting eleven in the Sparta Prague friendly yesterday evening.
