After Colin-Kazim Richards, Manchester City have set their sights on a second Fenerbahce player.
Anglofeb.com reported earlier this week on City lining up an improved £5million pound offer for Kazim, upping their initial bid from £4m. The Citizens’ are now hoping to complete a double swoop by tempting Fenerbahce’s resolve with an £8m proposal for goalkeeper Volkan Demirel. The Manchurians have sold shot stopper Andreas Isaakson to Dutch club PSV Eindhoven and have identified Volkan as their number one target to replace him. Newly appointed Man City manager Mark Hughes seems keen to spend Chairman Thaksin Shinawatra’s millions on sourcing new recruits. However, he has recently lost out on his pursuit of Brazilian world star Ronaldinho who opted for AC Milan despite the Premier League outfit offering a better pay packet.
The combined fee of £13m for the two Fenerbahce players could possibly help the Kadikoy Club finance possible moves for ambitious transfer targets such as Xabi Alonso. However, the Canaries' being a goalkeeper down already may hinder Manchester City’s approach for Volkan Demirel in particular.
Your view:
Should Fenerbahce cash in by selling both players, or one of them, to help finance moves for other targets? Maybe Fenerbahce shouldn't sell either as both are important to the club and replacing them would cost more? Let us know your opinion on the matter.
