Fenerbahce’s new marksman Daniel Guiza signed a 4 year deal and was immediately handed the apt number 14 jersey, representative of the quantity in million Euros paid to Real Mallorca in order to acquire his services.
Guiza, wearing his new number 14 shirt, was accompanied by board members Mahmut Uslu, Murat Ozaydinli and Vedat Olcay in a press conference held at Sukru Saracoglu. Uslu, who played a key role in the transfer, was first to comment. “After a month of trying, we have successfully signed Spain’s goal king to play alongside Turkey’s goal king [Semih Senturk]. We hope Dani Guiza is as successful here as he has been in Spain. To score 27 goals without a single penalty in La Liga is no mean feat.” The striker famous for his Marksman style goal celebration was next to speak. “I am both very happy and excited to be in Istanbul. I want to thank our President and Board Members for making this move possible. I do not feel any pressure to be coming here as Spain’s top goal scorer or as the Club’s record transfer. I will work on my performance under the guidance of a coach [Luis Aragones] I feel privileged to be playing for and reward everyone that has shown faith in me.”
The 27-year-old striker then continued to take photographs on the Sukru Saracoglu playing surface before joining a live interview on FB TV. Guiza is scheduled to fly to Austria later today and join preseason training with his new team-mates.
