 Luis Aragones arrived in Istanbul last night and was greeted by jubilant fans and camera happy paparazzi.
Aragones could have been excused in to thinking he was a Hollywood superstar with the level of attention surrounding his appearance at Istanbul Ataturk Airport. In reality, however, it was perhaps a pretty tame affair by usual Fenerbahce fan standards. The welcoming committee was more in the hundreds than the thousands and at no point was the Spanish coach carried on shoulders. It also barely took 10 minutes for the new Fenerbahce boss to make his way from the ‘Arrivals’ lounge to his awaiting car. This 100 metre walk has been known to take upwards of an hour in years gone by.
After his airport ordeal, the 69-year-old coach retired to his hotel to rest ahead of another day in front of snap happy photographers and hundreds of screaming fans.
