Arthur Zico used his personal website to reflect on the 07/08 campaign and drew comparisons on the previous season.

On his critique the Fenerbahce manager accepts not winning a domestic trophy was disappointing but argues that the Champions League accomplishment more than compensates for it.

The 55 year old claimed, “Despite not lifting a trophy in either domestic competition (Turkcell Super Lig and Fortis Turkiye Kupasi) Fenerbahce managed to reach a new level in world football by finishing 5th in Europe.  We beat teams such as Inter Milan, Sevilla and Chelsea which helped gain us further recognition.”

The Brazilian Coach then compared results to last season, “We played 57 matches winning 36 drawing 13 and losing 8.  Our win ratio was 63% whereas last season it was 58% as we won 35 of the 60 games played.”

Do you agree with Zico’s assessment?  Have Fenerbahce had a better season this time around despite not winning the title?  Let us know your view...
