Fenerbahçe play Trabzonspor in the final game of the season.  The game kicks off at 19:00 local time (GMT+2) on Saturday 10 May and anglofeb.com users can follow the live action play-by-play on Match Tracker.

 

Fenerbahce are 3 points behind arch rivals Galatasaray in second place but hold the better head-to-head aggregate result.  If both teams end the season on level points the championship trophy will remain in the Kadikoy trophy cabinet.  For this to happen, Fenerbahce must win at Avni Aker and hope that Genclerbirligi OFTASspor can defeat Galatasaray at Ali Sami Yen. 

 

The odds are stacked against Fenerbahce and most fans have written off their side’s championship chances.  This majority group is already looking forward to the summer and has begun debating which transfers will help the club mount a bigger assault on the Champions League.  After beating Genclerbirligi 3-2 last week the Yellow Canaries have already guaranteed qualification for next season.

 

Volkan Demirel (injury) and Mateja Kezman (illness) have not made the trip whilst Ugur Boral will have a late fitness.  The 18 man squad for the game is:

 

Serdar Kulbilge (GK), Volkan Babacan (GK), Yasin Cakmak, Kemal Aslan, Colin-Kazım Richards, Can Arat, Mehmet Aurelio, Ali Bilgin, Alex de Souza, Selçuk Sahin, Semih Senturk, Ugur Boral, Gürhan, Claudio Maldonado, Edu Dracena, İlhan Parlak, Gökhan Gonul and Deivid de Souza.

 

Trabzonspor are 6th are will finish in this position regardless of the result but, this will not mean the Hurricane of the Black Sea will take this game lightly.   The players know full well that a Fenerbahce victory should go a long way in ensuring some forgiveness from the fans after yet another average season.

 

The last meeting between the sides ended with a 3-2 Yellow Canaries’ victory.
