Semih Senturk has revealed that he has been playing on an injury for the last 3 weeks in order to help reach his two main objectives, Fenerbahce winning the league and him becoming the Goal King.
The Fenerbahce striker has scored 16 goals so far this season and is Turkcell Super Lig’s current top goal scorer. Following him in second place is Besiktas forward Fillip Holosko who is on 14 goals but is suspended for the next game. “This is an advantage for me to open the gap even further but in order to do that I must play, because I will not become the [Goal] King sitting on the bench”, Semih said. The Turkey international was quick to point out that whilst becoming the league’s top marksman is very important to him it is still secondary to Fenerbahce maintaining the Championship. “The first priority is Fenerbahce becoming champions. Our personal objectives are always lesser in importance but having come so close to winning the goal scoring crown I do not want to miss out. I have been playing on an injury for 3 weeks will continue playing in the last two matches as well.” The 25 year old believes his team are still in with a chance of maintaining their title, “To be honest none of us even contemplated the possibility of losing at Ali Sami Yen. However, we played poorly and got a bad result. I personally think that the league is far from over, all we have done is pass over our advantage to Galatasaray. We must win our 2 remaining games and wait for them to lose one which is a highly probable.”
