 Fenerbahce Coach Arthur Zico believes the title race is still not over despite his men losing the penultimate title decider at Ali Sami Yen yesterday.
Fenerbahce went down 1-0 losing their status as league leaders and fell 3 points behind Galatasaray with just 2 matches remaining. The only plus side of this defeat is that should both teams end up on level points at the end of the season the Yellow Canaries will win the league on head-to-head results due to winning the first match 2-0. It is because of this factor that Zico insists the title race is not over just yet. “In derby matches like this one both teams need to be cautious. With a little help from us, Galatasaray converted their chance and won the game. At the moment nothing is decided and football is full of previous examples where the unexpected has happened. Nothing is lost, Galatasaray will now play with Sivasspor and there are no guarantees they will win that game. Even Besiktas cannot be counted out of the race just yet.” Speaking on the mistake which lead to the goal the Brazilian coach said, “There was an error is communication. We spoke about this before the game and warned the players about it. We should not have conceded in this way, it is now up to the players to fix this.”
