 Fenerbahce’s Mr Reliable Mehmet Aurelio insists his team are approaching Sunday’s derby like any other Turkcell Super Lig match with no extra preparation.
The hype surrounding Fenerbahce’s trip to Galatasaray on 27 April 2008 continues to grow day by day. First it was the pundits who made their predictions known and now it’s the players turn it seems. Alex de Souza spoke about the derby on his regular FBTV slot last night and today Mehmet Aurelio aired his views to the press. The 30 year old combative midfielder said, “Galatasaray have a quality squad but our target is set. We will do whatever is necessary for obtaining all 3 points.” When asked if his team are disadvantaged playing the crunch match away he said, “We are looking at this as just another league match for 3 points. I do not believe that either side has the advantage over the other. This match will be between two quality sides playing in the derby of the century. The team who plays well for 90 minutes will only then gain an advantage by taking control of proceedings.”
Aurelio believes the recipe for a derby victory is patience and a positive mental attitude. “We must stay focused and be patient. We must not succumb to any provocation and if we play to our ability, there is no reason why we will not win.”
You read it here first, the deby of the century is just another regular match. No wonder Aurelio never seems fazed by anything on the pitch...
