The Turkey international currently leads the Turkcell Super Lig goal scoring charts with 15 strikes and has set his sights on winning the coveted title at the end of the season.
Alex de Souza, who became the league's top marksman after finding the net 19 times last season, believes Semih has what it takes to take the goal scoring reigns from him. The Brazilian is known admirer of Semih and recognised him as a top Turkish striker two seasons ago when the forward was nothing more than a fringe player.
This season Semih has gone on to prove his worth by winning Fenerbahce a number a points through crucial goals, but none were as dramatic as his last gasp injury time winner against Kayserispor. The 25 year old's impressive form is the subject of much debate, whilst some pundits argue he deserves a place in the starting eleven others claim that bringing him on from the bench is more beneficial for the team.
Zico appears to be in the latter camp but the goal ace has his own opinion. Speaking to FBTV cameras after the 2-1 victory over Kayserispor he said, "It is unfair to say that I am most productive coming into the game later on as I have played well in matches where I have started too. I prepare myself mentally and physically in accordance to how the match is developing. I keep my morale high at all times and never sulk at my coach if I am named as a substitute on Match Day. I have now scored 15 goals despite starting many games from the bench. I want to continue my goal scoring run and become the Goal King at the end of the season."
Who can argue that such a model professional would be undeserving of that title?
