With only 7 games left until season close the Canaries sit nicely perched at the top of the Turkcell Super Lig table, albeit on goal difference.
Fenerbahce entered match week 27 in third place one point adrift of leaders Besiktas and a goal behind second place Galatasaray.
The Kadikoy club kick-started the week's games by beating Kasimpasa 3-0 at home on Friday evening with goals from their talisman Alex de Souza, top scorer Semih Senturk and the ever impressive Deivd de Souza.
That result put Fenerbahce top of the table where they remained after Besiktas suffered a 2-1 reverse at the hands of Istanbul Buyuksehir Belediyesispor and Galatsaray could only manage a late winner against Denizlispor.
Besiktas went behind after just 6 minutes when their former player Ibrahim Akin gave the hosts the lead before Holosko capitalised on a defensive mistake to equalize before half-time. Bobo was then sent off for the Black Eagles and the ten men could only hang on until the 87th minute where ex-Galatasaray striker Necati sealed the win for the hosts.
Galatasaray needed to win by 3 clear goals at home against Denizlispor to regain top spot after 3 weeks. However, it was the visitors took a 1-0 lead on 28 minutes through an unlikely source . Hasan Yigit scored one of the few goals in his long career but the lead lasted a mere 6 minutes and veteran Okan Buruk drew things level. It remained that way until two minutes from time where Denizlispor goalkeeper Suleymanou made a hash of a routine save and gifted Servet Cetin the goal which gave all three points to Cim Bom Bom.
Meanwhile, Sivasspor continued their title chase by beating Konyaspor 3-0 courtesy of goals from Chetkov, Ugur Yildirim and Mehmet Yildiz. The Yigido's are now in 3rd place on goal difference and only 2 points behind Fenerbahce and Galatasaray.
The biggest game of match week 28 is without doubt Fenerbahce's visit to Besiktas. The Black Eagles will want to leapfrog their Istanbul rivals whereas the Yellow Canaries will be hoping to widen the gap and all but end their title hopes.
