He claimed he was very happy that he was useful for the team and assisting Mateja Kezman's 4th goal. "I'm happy that I've overcome my injury and returned to the team to feature in this match. I'm also happy at the fact that I was able to help our tally increase to 4 goals. After Konyaspor took the lead, we began controlling the tempo of the match resulting in quick goals that were back to back. This is great for our team and our confidence.
On his assist, "Deivid started the attack. Him and I devised a quick one-two, allowing me to break through down the right flank where I passed the ball to Kezman for a simple finish. Football is a very simple game, my career has been built around keeping the game as simple as possible."
Maldonado continued his interview by mentioning the upcoming Champions League clash against Chelsea. "I feel good. If I'm to play in the Chelsea match, I'm going to work as hard as I did when I was recovering over my injury. As players, we need to give Zico as many options as possible. The Champions League is a completely different world. For one to be able to compete at such a level, you need a deep and talented squad. Zico will choose who he believes is the most fit and ready for the match."
