Champions LeagueFenerbahçe play Sevilla on Tuesday 4 March 2008 in the return leg of their Champions League Last 16 knock-out tie.  The match will kick off 21:45 Turkish time (GMT+2) and anglofeb.com users can follow the action play-by-play on Match Tracker.

The first leg ended in a 5 goal thriller with Fenerbahce getting a vital winner 3 minutes from time.  Substitute Semih Senturk had barely been on the field for 5 minutes before hitting a low deflected shot into the bottom corner and giving the representatives from Turkey a slight advantage.

Kezman had put the home side in front with a header on 17 minutes which was cancelled out by an Edu own goal 7 minutes later.  Fenerbahce central defender regained his team’s lead on 57 with a towering header from Alex’s corner.  However, they were pegged back a second time when Escude leveled for the visitors on 66 minutes before Semih had the final say towards the end.

Sevillistas were disappointed to have conceded so late in the game but have consolation in the 2 important away goals scored.  The team from Andalucía will be hoping to use this as their platform in front of their fans.

Sevilla manager Manolo Jiménez has confirmed that they will play their traditional attacking football and will look to score for an early goal.

Club President José María del Nido meanwhile has called for the fans to show their Turkish guests what a hostile atmosphere is really like.  Senior del Nido was impressed with the Sukru Saracoglu crowd but believes the Sevilla faithful can go one better.

Fenerbahce fly out to Sevilla on Monday morning and complete pre-match preperations with a final training session at Sevilla’s Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán stadium in the evening.

Roberto Carlos failed a late fitness test and will not feature.  The Brazilian superstar was injured in the first leg following a clash with Escude as the Frenchmen scored Sevilla’s equalizer.  Chile international Maldonado and Turkey international Deniz Baris are also out because of injury.

The Yellow Canaries have lost 2 and drawn 1 since the meeting with Sevilla, whilst the Spanish team have won 1 and lost another.
